New York New York
what a weekend it has been. i took off for NYC thurs a.m. on the fung wah bus and met up with bay area friends cindy anna and steves. i can't believe i haven't seen them in over months, and seeing them made me realize i was homesick. but if i went home, what would i be doing? nothing. sitting on my ass, having my mommy cook for me. thank god for grad school to give my life meaning.
as soon as i arrived i dropped my stuff off at the hotel and decided to walk from times sq to soho. it didn't look that far away on the map. it was a warm day (upper 40s!) so walking wasn't a bad idea. dude, it was far. i wouldn't recommend the trek if you are not in comfortable shoes. this is the first time i noticed how polluted the city was. my boogers came out black! ew..
we went to see avenue Q and it was awesome!! funny and vulgar, just the way i like it. actually i think i experienced an epiphany. i saw my life as interpreted by muppets. i'm just another confused 20-something trying to find my purpose in life.
on friday we went on those double decker tourist buses. unfortunately the weather wasn't being agreeable with me and my ass froze in the rain. i didn't want to overpack like i did on my last NY trip, so all i brought was a raincoat... i got back to the hotel and found out that i missed the first snowfall in Boston. oh well, plenty more where that came from. saturday i met up with elisa, who works in NYC now. we walked around greenwich village (east or west, i forgot) and again, i froze my ass off. then i was back on the subway to head over to the met. being there made me realize i need an art history lesson. as soon as midterms and papers are over i'm gonna check out Boston's museum and take a class.
coming back to Boston was depressing. i miss the sound of angry honking and pushy pedestrians and rude service personnel.

It sounds like you were made for the East Coast. You actually like the rude people, weird... Black boogies! ewwww! Well, you are missing the Bay Area fog, it has been so dense, you can't see anything, it's great, it's our snow. :) You're right, missing home is cool, doesn't mean you need to live there! Ha!
